ARTICHOKE-GLOBE (also available as offsets, available bare-rooted June-August)
Tall perennial grown for the edible, immature flower buds.
Sow: Mid Spring–early Summer, transplant.
Position: full sun.
Plant: 60cm apart.
Soil: well drained, moderately fertile.
Maturity: 6months approx.
Harvest: while young and scales are tight.
 
FRENCH PURPLE
Heirloom. Similar to Green Globe variety but with purple heads. Fine flavour.
GREEN GLOBE

Heirloom. Standard variety with large, oval, grey-green heads on stalks to 1.8m. Good flavour.
IMPERIAL STAR
Improved eating qualities, early maturing variety. Uniform, compact plant to 1m.
PURPLE DE JESI
Medium sized green heads, tinged with purple. Eaten raw when young.

BEETROOT
Nutritious vegetable grown for the swollen root.
Sow Seed: Early Spring-Early Autumn, successive, direct or transplant.
Position: full sun.
Plant: 15cm apart.
Soil: well drained, moderately fertile.
Maturity: 8-10 weeks.
Harvest: from ‘Baby Beet’ stage onwards. Frost improves sweetness.
 
CYLINDRA
Heirloom. Long, cylindrical, dark red roots. Rich, tender flesh, ideal for slicing. Bolt resistant.
DETROIT DARK RED
Heirloom. Deep red, globe-shaped roots with excellent flavour. Remains juicy and tender, regardless of size. Stores well.
GOLDEN
Heirloom. Beautiful, round, golden-yellow roots that don’t bleed or colour other foods. Sweet, rich flavour. Harvest when young.
BROCCOLI Broccoli
Vitamin-rich vegetable grown for the immature flower heads.
Sow: Late Spring-Early Autumn, depending on variety, transplant.
Position: full sun.
Plant: 30cm apart.
Soil: well drained, moderately rich.
Maturity: 10-12 weeks.
Harvest: Central head while flower buds remain tight and compact, often followed by extended harvest of side shoots.


DE CICCO
Heirloom. Early and productive variety producing a compact, bluish-green head, followed by many side shoots. Excellent flavour.
GREEN SPROUTING (ITALIAN CALABRESE)
Heirloom. Popular and vigorous cultivar producing a medium-sized, dark green head, followed by numerous side shoots. Excellent flavour. Slow to bolt.
ROMANESCO
Italian Heirloom. Highly decorative and unique heads made up of lime green, conical clusters. Excellent flavour.
BEAN-BUSHBush Bean
Productive, compact plants grown for the edible pods. Warm season crop.
Sow: Mid Spring-Mid Summer, successive, direct.
Position: full sun.
Plant: 8-10cm apart, after frost.
Soil: well drained, neutral-alkaline ph.
Maturity: 7-10 weeks.
Harvest: continuously, while pods are young and tender.


GOLDEN WAX
High yielding stringless bean with long yellow pods and white seeds. Delicious buttery flavour.
IDELIGHT (SUNRAY)
Vigorous and productive variety with round, green, stringless pods. Crops over an extended period. Disease resistant.
PROVIDER
Early variety producing stringless green beans on a compact bust. Excellent flavour. Disease resistant.
STRINGLESS GREEN POD
Heirloom. Productive and popular variety, producing round, green, stringless beans of wonderful flavour.
BEAN-CLIMBING
Highly productive climbing plant grown for the edible pods. Warm season crop.
Sow: Mid Spring-Early Summer, direct.         
Position: full sun.
Plant: 8-10cm apart, on trellis, after frost.
Soil: well drained, neutral-alkaline ph.
Maturity: 9-12 weeks.
Harvest: continuously, while pods are young and tender.
 
KENTUCKY WONDER (OLD HOMESTEAD)
Heirloom variety. Productive and disease resistant, cropping well in cool areas. Flattened, green pods of good flavour, stringless when picked young.
BLUE LAKE
American Heirloom. Vigorous, heavy yielding plants, bearing with round, green pods. Excellent flavour, remaining tender when mature.
PURPLE KING
Heirloom. Hardy and prolific variety. Flattened, dark purple beans turn green when cooked. Good flavour.
BRUSSELS SPROUTS
Grown for the compact side sprouts which develop along the stem.
Sow: Spring-Late Summer, transplant.
Position: full sun.
Plant: 40-50cm apart.
Soil: well drained, moderately rich.
Maturity: 16-22 weeks.
Harvest: largest sprouts first, while compact and firm. Crops over an extended period, remove lower leaves to aid sprout development, flavour improves with frost.
 
LONG ISLAND IMPROVED
Heirloom. Compact bush producing heavy crops of compact, dark green sprouts along the stem. Old standard variety with very good flavour.
